We support families battling Childhood Cancer and Life Threatening Blood disorders in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle "Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you, your right hand upholds me" Psalms 63:7-8 "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" Galatians 6:2 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves" Philippians 2:3

About Us

How we help in all the ways

We are a Christian based organization and with Gods guidance we help childhood cancer families during a very difficult time. In 2003, we started as a small support group under a different name. It was realized then that for these families time was precious, and when they were not in the hospital, their priority was trying to maintain normal lives. Our founder, a pediatric nurse who was also the mother of a child with leukemia, discovered that these families often need money for extra expenses incurred as a result of treatment. Therefore we decided to take a different approach to the term support group and started on a new path.

We did not become a nonprofit organization until 2008, changing our name to Panhandle Angels Foundation and then also received our 501(c)3 status.

All of the money that we raise goes directly to our families. Our organization is run by volunteers only.  This helps keep our administrative costs low. We depend on word of mouth to avoid the cost of advertisement.

How we help our families:

  • groceries
  • rent/house payment up to twice a year (but there are special exceptions)
  • gas
  • utilities
  • some medical
  • medications
  • out of  town travel assistance
  • and unforseen expenses
  • Scholarships to Cancer Survivors for first semester of College treated in the Panhandle

We also partner with Texas Tech and other organizations to put on a Christmas party. Our families are invited for lunch, and Santa Claus bestows presents upon each cancer child as well as all of their brothers and sisters (the parents tell us their wish).  The families are entertained by a group of volunteers based on a new theme each year while they spend an afternoon just enjoying each other and forgetting about their illnesses for a brief time. It is such a blessing to be able to see these children interacting with each other like any normal group of children, with excitement and laughter, and to see their parents relaxing and smiling.
